Getting started with StoreAdOps
Connect your store, review its performance, and use your AI assistant to plan advertising with live commerce data.
Connect your advertising accounts
You can use StoreAdOps with an advertising account alone. Open signup is free; connect only the accounts you want to use.
- Sign in or create your StoreAdOps account using Google or an email code.
- Open Connections, choose Google Ads, Meta Ads, Microsoft Advertising or TikTok Ads, and authorize access to an available integration. Signing in with Google does not itself connect Google Ads.
- Select the advertising account you intend to use. For Meta, select a business and ad account you are authorized to manage; Page and catalog workflows need their specific permissions.
- Open Home, choose Advertising, select the account and period, and check the snapshot and any data-availability warnings.
- Choose an AI connection below, then ask it to check your selected accounts before doing analysis.

ChatGPT
Check StoreAdOps in the ChatGPT directory for current installation availability and complete browser sign-in if offered. The server provides the same ten-tool contract, but the installed client, granted scopes and enabled features determine which operations you can use. Directory review or installation alone does not prove access.
Direct MCP
Open Setup Guide for the API-key instructions for your client. For a browser OAuth alternative, the public Claude Code package connects to the same service. Follow that package’s installation and browser sign-in instructions.
For API-key clients, choose your client in Setup Guide, generate a key, and follow its displayed command. Keep the key private. The main endpoint is https://app.storeadops.ai/mcp. It serves the same ten tools as https://app.storeadops.ai/mcp/packs/ads-v3 and the retained installation URL https://app.storeadops.ai/mcp/packs/analyst-v1; the latter is not an analysis-only surface. Each URL retains its own OAuth resource binding. All changes require a prepared preview, explicit confirmation, accepted effects and an idempotency key; host permissions and provider gates still apply.
Ask: “Check my StoreAdOps connections and identify my selected Google and Meta accounts. Make no changes.” Then try a workflow prompt. Your AI provider may charge separately.
Microsoft Advertising: Available. TikTok Ads: Available. Use the advertising MCP connection at /mcp/packs/ads-v3. Select that pack in the app's Setup Guide for Microsoft or TikTok workflows.
The detailed Codex CLI walkthrough and existing store setup instructions follow below.
Before you start
- A Shopify account with permission to install apps on your store.
- A StoreAdOps account. Sign in with an email code or Google.
- For AI workflows, a client that supports remote Streamable HTTP MCP with bearer-token authentication, such as Codex or Claude Code. Your AI provider may have its own subscription requirements.
- For Google Ads reporting or campaign actions, access to the Google Ads account that runs your campaigns. A Google Ads connection is not required for the Shopify commerce dashboard.
1. Install and connect your store
- Start from the StoreAdOps Shopify App Store listing or Shopify Admin and choose Install or Open app. Shopify supplies the store identity; do not enter a store domain into StoreAdOps.
- Review Shopify's permissions for products, inventory, orders, and store analytics, and complete the Shopify-owned install flow.
- When StoreAdOps asks you to sign in, use your StoreAdOps account, then continue the installation.
- Open Connections and check that your Shopify store is Active.
Shopify access is read-only. The Shopify API documentation explains the requested permissions and data handling.
2. Review store performance
- Open Home, select Commerce, and choose your store.
- Select 7, 30, or 90 days. Review product count, order count, sampled gross sales, and sampled average order value.
- Read any data-availability warning. Sampled order totals are not a full accounting report, and a period with no orders can correctly show zero sales.
3. Connect Google Ads when needed
- Open Connections, choose Google Ads, and complete Google's consent flow.
- Select the account that runs your campaigns, then confirm it is Active.
- On Home, select Advertising and that account to review spend, conversions, conversion value, and campaign performance for the selected period.
4. Connect your AI client
- Open Setup Guide and choose the native MCP server integration option.
- Select your client, generate an API key, and follow the displayed setup command. Keep the key private; it is shown only when created.
- The production MCP server is
https://app.storeadops.ai/mcp. Other compatible clients can use this URL with bearer-token authentication. - Ask your client to check your StoreAdOps connections before requesting store or ad data.
Platform-directory plugins have separate availability. Direct MCP setup does not require a directory listing.
Codex CLI: install, sign in, and connect
- Use a macOS, Linux, or Windows WSL terminal with Node.js and npm installed. Run
npm install -g @openai/codex, thencodex --version. If npm is unavailable, use an installer from the official Codex installation guide. - Run
codex loginand complete the browser sign-in with your own ChatGPT account that has Codex access. This is separate from your StoreAdOps login and API key. Confirm withcodex login status. - In StoreAdOps, open Setup Guide, choose Native MCP server integration, then Codex. Click Generate key here and wait for your key and command to appear. Click Copy Codex command. The generated command contains your private key; do not share it.
- Paste and run the complete copied command in your terminal. It exports the API key and registers the
advantageMCP server athttps://app.storeadops.ai/mcp. It replaces any existing Codex server namedadvantage. Runcodex mcp listand confirm that name and URL. - Run
codexin the same terminal. Enter/mcpand confirm advantage connects and lists tools. Ask: “Use StoreAdOps to list my connected accounts and identify the selected store and ad account. Make no changes.” Compare the result with Connections in StoreAdOps. - If the key is missing, run the copied command again in the terminal that launches Codex. A new terminal needs the key exported again. For a 401 error, generate a new key and repeat setup. Never paste your StoreAdOps password into the command.
- After testing, revoke the temporary key from the same terminal:
curl -fsS -X DELETE https://app.storeadops.ai/api/keys/current -H "Authorization: Bearer $ADVANTAGE_MCP_API_KEY". Expect{"revoked":true}. Then runcodex mcp remove advantageandunset ADVANTAGE_MCP_API_KEY. On macOS, also runlaunchctl unsetenv ADVANTAGE_MCP_API_KEY.
Try these read-only prompts
- “Check my StoreAdOps connections and identify the selected store and ad account.”
- “Summarize my Shopify product, stock, and recent-order context. Make no changes.”
- “Rank my Shopify products for advertising and explain their readiness and stock risks.”
- “Review my Google Ads campaigns over the last 30 days and recommend improvements. Make no changes.”
Review actions before approving them
For an ad change, check the account, campaign, proposed change, and budget before approving. New campaigns start paused by default. Approved edits to existing campaigns can take effect immediately. StoreAdOps does not make Shopify changes.
